Members from the Red Bud FFA Chapter attended the food science CDE on Wednesday, October 2nd. Nine members went to the event where they utilized their knowledge of food that they had learned in their classes recently. The members were challenged to create food marketing strategies, as well as being tested on their knowledge of food, conversions, and ability to taste and smell differences between food. The chapter was successful, as the JV team placed first in the section and district, with Madey Mohr placing first overall, Holly Gregson second, and Aidan Williams placing sixth in the Section. The varsity team found success placing seventh in the district and fifth in the section, and Emma Carter earning fourth place in the section. This CDE was an educational, eye-opening experience for the members that attended. Chapter president Madey Mohr backs up this claim by stating, “It was very enlightening to see all the different aspects of marketing, producing, and selling the product in the food industry.”
