Last week the Red Bud FFA chapter took nine members to the Equine Judging CDE at the DuQuoin state fairgrounds. This CDE is designed to teach members of the unique ways a horse is built. Maggie Simpson, a Red Bud FFA member who attended this conference, proves this effective by saying, “I learned about the structure of a horse and the qualities of a structurally correct horse.” They spent the day judging six classes. These classes consisted of a variety of different types of judging, they judged three riding classes, two halter classes, and one trail class. The varsity team consisted of Kelsey Kolwier, Madey Mohr, Josie Schmidt, and Langston Deterding. The members of the JV team were Christa Chambers, Addison Salger, Maggie Simpson, and Grace Koester. Emma Carter also participated as a member of the practice team. Resulting from this, Madey Mohr placed first in the section, and seventh overall in the district.
