This year’s homecoming was preceded by plenty of fun dress-up days and a daily pep rally! The sections of the bleachers in the auxiliary gym were decorated according to the theme of the corresponding classes. This year was seasons with the freshman class being spring, sophomore class being winter, juniors being fall, and the seniors having a summer theme. The hallways were also decorated with these themes with backdrops and streamers throughout the respective hallways. Photos of these are posted below.
The Homecoming football game took place on Thursday evening on September 26th, with Red Bud winning against the Sparta Bulldogs with the final score being 49-14.
Homecoming week began with a “Dress as Your Season” dress-up theme with the sophomore class winning. Tuesday followed with a “Meme Day” theme where students were encouraged to dress as their favorite or funniest meme! The winner was the senior class with sophomores in second place, freshmen in third place, and juniors in fourth. Wednesday was Maroon and White Day after being changed from Class Colors Day, which was moved to Friday. The class with the most participating students was the juniors.
Wednesday was also the day of the Homecoming parade with floats for each class as well as various sports teams along with the marching band and cheerleaders walking along the parade route. The Powderpuff game was at 7:00 PM that evening with the sophomore class winning, and freshmen taking 2nd.
Thursday was “Alphabet Day” in which everyone was requested to dress like something or someone that started with the same letter as their first name. Thursday’s winner was the sophomore class with juniors in second place, freshmen in third, and seniors in fourth. Friday was the fifth and final day of this school year’s Homecoming Week was the Class Color day for this year and the winner was the sophomore class the day ended with an assembly with a motivational speaker and an early dismissal.
The Homecoming dance was held on September 28th with a Luau theme with plenty of lights and fun decorations! Popsicles and assorted fruit were set out on a table in the lobby as well as water bottles and juice. Homecoming court included Addalyn Schloemann and Jacob Sinn in the freshman class, Sage Pensoneau and Connor Bumann in the sophomore class, and Kiersten Wegner with Seth Hohgrefe in the junior class. Savannah Hopple and Derek Whelan, Jeda Friess and Lucas Schwartzkopf, Emme Deterding, and Nathan Catio, and Jaydian Montroy with Dylan Oliver were the senior attendants. Returning to give the crown away were Alexis Koester and Chase Lucht. Savannah Hopple and Derek Whelan won the vote and were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
Overall, the sophomore class won for the second year in a row with a total of 1150 points, with the seniors coming in second, freshman third, and juniors coming in fourth place. Congratulations to all of the winners of the various competitions throughout the week!
