The boy’s golf team wrapped another week of play this time with 3 straight events at Chester CC. On Wednesday the team played in a quad match with Chester, New Athens, and Okawville. After 9 holes the yellow jackets came out on top with a team score of 160 followed closely by a Red Bud Okawville 169 and New Athens 187. Jack Muench tied for medalist with a round of 38. Lane Diewald shot a 40, Despain 41, and Liefer and Koester both had 44s.
On Thursday the boys headed back to conclude the back 9 of the Randolph County Cup. The musketeers took 2nd.
On Monday 9/9 the boys once again returned to Chester for the 18-hole Chester invitational. The Musketeers came out on top with a very impressive 312 score to take the 1st place trophy! It was great seeing the boys work and grind all day and to have them accomplish this by playing with an all 18 mindset. Lucas McCarthy and Cooper DeSpain both birdied their last 2 holes of the day. I’m very grateful for how the boys responded today and over the last few days. There was certainly a lot going on but they earned it. We put the clubs away and played a little flag football for practice on Friday, so we might need to look into that strategy a bit!
Cooper DeSpain finished 3rd overall while Lane and Jack tied for 4th overall.
