The Lady Musketeers softball team had an impressive week going 6-0 against Gibault, Carlyle, Sparta, Waterloo, Greenville, and Newton. The team started off the week winning against Gibault 11-1 with huge offensive plays by Lyla Hess, going 3-4 and Allie Zipfel going 2-4 with a 3-run bomb to left center. Alexis Koester also chipped in with an inside-the-park home run. Ava Wagner ran the bases, scoring 4 of the Musketeers’ runs. Olivia Geralds, Danielle Schmitz, and Kendra Ehret did well pitching, allowing only two hits all day. The team then went to face Carlyle at home, winning that one 7-0. Geralds with her first shut-out of the week as well as more big offensive plays from Zipfel and Hess. Zipfel going 2-3 and Hess going 1-2. Jayna Bast and Addi Dilley chipped in with Bast going 2-3 and Dilley going 1-2. Moving on to a 4-0 win over Sparta, Geralds with her second shutout of the week only allowing 4 hits. Ava Wagner had 3 hits, along with Hess, Schmitz, Bast, and Zipfel who had 2 each. The Musketeers then traveled to Waterloo where they battled with them and ended up winning 2-1. Geralds coming through for her team again, only allowing 3 hits all game. Bast and Dilley with the big hits of the game; Bast going 2-3 and Dilley driving in Crewe Wagner and Ava Wagner to get the Musketeers those runs. Coming off of their exciting win at Waterloo, the team traveled to Greenville on Saturday to play a doubleheader against Greenville and Newton. They won the first game against Greenville 15-0, with Hess and Koester delivering big at the plate. Ehret picks up her first Varsity win, allowing only 1 hit. The second game against Newton was a pitcher’s dual till the end. Geralds gets the win allowing 6 hits and 1 run, and picking up 4 strikeouts. Geralds double in the 7th inning allowed Crewe Wagner to get the walk-off run to win the game.
