Fallin’ into Branson, Mo.

Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri is mostly known for its beautiful, annual holiday lights. While Christmas in the City is breathtaking, it’s not the only special event that provides family fun. From September 21st to October 29th, Silver Dollar City has a holiday event called Pumpkins in the City, which overlaps with Harvest fest. During this event, there are thousands of real and fake pumpkins scattered around the park. There is even pumpkin decor of all sizes such as a giant scarecrow, a bat tower, and a homestead around different areas. All of the added decorations are made out of pumpkins and light up at night. Like most theme parks, Missouri’s finest also included fall-themed foods like a Dippin Dots flavor named “Spookies and Cream” and apple cider. Since this is a fairly new event, some new aspects are added each year. This year, a section of the park opened up called Foggy Hollow. In this pathway, there is fog covering the ground and hundreds of lights hanging in the air. The path leads to an area called Pumpkin Plaza where there are giant inflatable pumpkins, photo opportunities, a two-hour dance party, and fall-themed booths filled with related products. While the park looks pretty, it also helps support local businesses. During harvest fest, the management gives small businesses around the Branson area a chance to come into the park and sell their products. To get a booth, vendors have to have completely handmade products to fit the theme of the park which really helps to set the feeling of the past. Despite the seasonal changes, the rest of the park is the same ‘blast from the past’ it always has been!
