Musketeer Freshman-Sophomore Football Team Wins

The Freshmen/Sophomore Musketeers notched a win this week on the road against Breese Central. The game was a battle from the start. Red Bud scored first on a 2-yard TD run by sophomore running back Chase Lucht. Lane Brockmeyer hit the PAT to give Red Bud a 7-0 lead in the first half. The Cougars took the lead on a touchdown run and successful 2-point conversion in the third period making the score 8-7. The Musketeers fought back, regaining the lead on a 13-yard TD pass from Freshman quarterback Dillon Oliver to sophomore wide-out Owen Liefer. The successful two-point conversion on a run by Lucht gave the Boys a 15-8 lead. The Cougars came roaring back with a fourth-quarter TD run. Central went for the win by attempting a two-point play but the Musketeer defense rose to the occasion stopping the run to preserve a 15-14 victory. The win makes the team 1-1 for the season. The boys travel to Carlyle Monday to take on the Indians. The game time is 6:00.
