RBHS Boys’ Golf Season Begins

The Red Bud boys golf team has once again begun a new season. The team kicked off their first match on August 21 against Chester at North County Country Club and came up a few strokes short of a victory.

The following week saw the Musketeers have a rain out against Valmeyer and Waterloo. The boys were able to play a match against Trico in which once again, they were not able to outdo the Pioneers.

The team next competed against the Sparta Bulldogs and secured a victory with senior Alex Kueker shooting a low round of 37.

The boys golf team then traveled to Okawville to compete against the Rockets of Okawville and the Griffins from Father McGiveny high school. The Okawville Rockets took first place while the Musketeers finished second.

On September 5, the varsity squad competed in the Chester Invitational against several other teams. The team played hard, but ended up finishing fifth. Finally this week the Musketeers competed against New Athens and Wesclin on Monday. Despite having golfer Alex Kueker shoot the lowest score for all three teams with a 42, the Musketeers fell short of the victory.

This years Red Bud Musketeer boys golf team is comprised of seniors: Alex Kueker, Cole Booker and Warren Mudd. Juniors are Reece Candler, Kendall Doiron, Ethan Fritsche, Austin Grohmann, Brendan Harms, Blake Maes and Dylan Roscow.The sophomore golfers are Logan Cathell, Blake Headen, Mason Kinney, Camden Langrehr and Colton Liefer. The freshmen are comprised of Canon Hartman, Logan Salger, Will Simpson and Owen Stallings.

The conference tournament will take place on October 1 at Governor’s Run Golf Course in Carlyle. The regional competition is scheduled for October 8, with the site yet to be determined.
