Lady Musketeers Go 4-2 in a Week Full of Games

On Monday, March 18, The Red Bud lady Musketeers faced the Granite City lady Indians Away. The score was 0-0 until the third inning when Granite city scored one run. Red Bud battled right back in the fourth inning to tie it back up. The Musketeers tacked on three more runs in the next three innings, then Granite city came back to score three more runs to tie up the game causing it to go into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Red Bud scored four more runs and the lady Indians were unable to battle back, ending the game with a victory for the Musketeers and a final score of 8-4.

Mollet and Todaro went 3/4; Stengel 2/2; Salger, Lucht and Cowell 1/3; Guebert 1/4; and Allen 1/5.

Salger pitched 6.1 innings allowing three hits, seven walks and had three strikeouts. Durbin pitched 1.2 innings allowing for one hit, no walks, and had one strikeout.

On Tuesday, March 19, The lady Musketeers had an away game against the Lebanon lady Greyhounds. The lady Musketeers jumped ahead by scoring one run in the first inning with a hit from Todaro. The score stayed at 1-0 until the fourth inning when Lebanon scored one run to tie it up. Red Bud came back by scoring five runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth. Lebanon was able to bring in five more runs but it wasn’t enough to win, ending the game with another victory for Red Bud and a final score of 9-6

Todaro went 3/4; Stengel and Cowell 2/3; Roy 2/4; and Allen 1/4

Durbin pitched 7 innings allowing ten hits, six runs, and had three strikeouts.

On Wednesday, March 20, The Red Bud Musketeers traveled to Belleville Althoff high school to face the lady Crusaders. The Musketeers started off the game by scoring one run in the first inning, followed by the Crusaders scoring two to take the lead back. The lady Musketeers started to take their lead back by rattling their bats and scoring 16 runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, finishing the game with a score of 17-2 in the fifth inning.

Roy went 4/4; Allen 3/4; Guebert 2/2; Lucht 2/4; Stengel and Schrader 1/3; Cowell 1/4; and Todaro 1/5.

Schrader pitched 5 innings allowing three hits, seven walks, and had six strikeouts.

Thursday, March 21, the lady Musketeers had a home game against the Steeleville lady Warriors. The Warriors started off strong by scoring four runs in the first inning. The lady Musketeers battled back in the second inning by scoring four runs with hits from Salger and Guebert to tie it up. Steeleville scored two more runs in the fourth inning, taking back the lead. Red Bud was able to score three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings with hits from Cowell, Roy and Guebert which drove in runs. Unfortunately, Steeleville was able to score nine more runs and take the lead again for a final score of 7-15.

Todaro went 3/4; Guebert and Cowell 2/4; Salger and Stengel 1/2; Allen 1/3; and Roy 1/4.

Salger pitched 4 innings allowing five hits, four walks, and had four strikeouts. Durbin pitched 3 innings allowing five hits, one walk, and had three strikeouts.

Friday, March 22, The Red Bud lady Musketeers traveled to Sparta Il, to face the lady Bulldogs. Sparta started off the game by scoring two runs right off the bat. Red Bud was unable to score any runs until the third inning when they scored one run with a hit from Stengel, bringing in Montroy. The Musketeers scored another run in the fourth inning with a hit from Mollet, bringing in Lucht to tie the game up 2-2. Red Bud continued to rally their bats in the fifth inning scoring 6 runs with hits from Montroy, Todaro, Cowell, and Allen. Sparta was able to bring in four more runs but it wasn’t enough to take the lead. The lady Musketeers took the victory and ended the game with a final score 8-6.

Stengel went 2/3; Roy and Cowell went 1/3; Todaro, Allen, Lucht, Guebert, Mollet and Montroy all contributed with one hit.

Amann pitched 7 innings allowing three hits, four walks, and had one strikeout.

To end the long week of games, the Red Bud Musketeers traveled to Alton Marquette on Saturday, March 23, to face the lady Explorers. The lady musketeers started off strong by scoring two runs in the first inning with a walk by Cowell and a home run from Roy. The lady Explorers battled back and took the lead by scoring two runs in the first inning, and another in the second. The Musketeers scored another run in the fourth with hits from Roy, Guebert and Mollet, but were unable to bring any more runs in the rest of the game. Alton Marquette took the win with a final score of 3-7.

Roy went 2/4; Mollet and Guebert went 1/3.

Durbin pitched 6 innings allowing six hits, four walks, and had five strikeouts.

The lady Musketeers plan on having a game Thursday, March 28, in Mascoutah, and another tournament in Wood-River on Saturday, March 30.
