Art du Jour
The Red Bud art department has yet again taken home quite a few awards from the annual Art du Jour competition. The competition is held at the SWIC campus in Red Bud every year before the Christmas break. Each school from the district can have around 15 people send in different pieces of artwork. The options for the types are painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, or mixed media. Each of these categories can be awarded up to the third place and there is an award for best-in-show and a people’s choice award. All of the artwork is set up in the halls of the school, while the students who entered participate in classes taught by art teachers and art related workers from the community. These included food decorating, jewelry making, painting, photography, and even metal working. Each student completed two of these classes before the scores were in and the students could receive their awards. Red Bud had 6 people place. We swept the floor in Digital Media with Emma Valroy in third, Amber Mollet in second, and Jessie Deterding in first place being taken home by art students. We also had Brittney Pensoneau in second for sculpture. We also had Sophia Leifer in Drawing with a 1st place. Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and success.
