Lady Musketeers Take on Gibault and Dupo

The Lady Musketeers had two games last week. One was against Gibault and the other was Dupo. The ladies knew they were going to have to fight hard in order to pull out with two wins.

The Lady Musketeers faced the Gibault Lady Hawks on December 5. The ladies came out strong and started off the game with 12 points on the board. Hope Guebert sank one, three-pointer. Claire Grohmann, Amber Stengel, Hannah Sievers, and Alyssa Heller scored one, two-pointer each. Megan Stellhorn got fouled and went one for two from the free throw line. The score at the end of the first quarter was tied 12-12.

The ladies were able to add another 10 to the scoreboard in the second quarter. Reese Foster made one, three-pointer. Stengel made one, two-pointer and went one for two from the free throw line. Sievers and Heller scored one, two-pointer each. Going into halftime the score was 22-17, the Lady Musketeers were on top.

In the third quarter the ladies added 15 points to the scoreboard. Stengel made three, three-pointers and one, two-pointer. Sami Lucht and Sievers made one, two-pointer each. At the end of the third quarter the score was 37-31, the Musketeers were still on top.

The Lady Musketeers worked hard in the fourth quarter to make sure they came out with a win. Sievers was fouled several times and went four for four from the free throw line. Guebert made one, two-pointer and went two for two from the free throw line. Foster sank one, three-pointer. Lucht made one, two-pointer. Stengel was fouled and went two for three from the free throw line. The final score was 52-41. The Lady Musketeers came out with a win.

On December 8, the Lady Musketeers traveled to Dupo to face off with the Lady Tigers. The ladies knew they could not take the game lightly because their opponents had some size. In the first quarter the ladies scored 13 points. Grohmann scored one, three-pointer, two, two-pointers, and she went three for five from the free throw line. Guebert also contributed one, three-pointer. At the end of the quarter the score was 13-14, the Musketeers were down.

In the second quarter the ladies added 14 points to the scoreboard. Grohmann made three, two-pointer and she went three for four from the free throw line. Foster sank one, three-pointer. Megan Henry made one, two-pointer. The score was 27-20 going into halftime, the Lady Musketeers were on top.

During the third quarter the ladies added 11 points to the scoreboard. Grohmann scored two, two-pointers. Stengel, Olivia Carle, and Heller made one, two-pointer each. Sievers went one for four from the free throw line. The score at the end of the third quarter was 38-22.

In the final quarter of the game the ladies added 7 points to their score. Guebert sank one, three-pointer. Grohmann and Lucht made one, two-pointer each. The final score was 45-34. The Lady Musketeers added another win to their record.

The Lady Musketeers are participating in the Candy Cane Tournament at Gibault Catholic High School this week. They faced the Gibault Lady Hawks in the first round of the tournament. The ladies played again on Wednesday at 6. They will play again on Saturday. The time has not been determined yet due to bracket play. Come on out and cheer on your Lady Musketeers!
