Cross Country Team Holds Successful Home Meet

Once October hits, the temps cool down and the RBHS Cross Country schedule heats up and the running becomes do or die.  On Tuesday, October 9th, the team hosted their annual Home meet at Fort de Chartres.  There were three races ran, beginning with the High School Girls, the Boys, and then the Jr. High Race.  Taking the lead for the Boys was the Steeleville team.  Red Bud Boys followed closely, taking the 2nd place team award.  Okawville placed 3rd, Gibault placed 4th, Dupo placed 5th, and New Athens rounded out the teams in 6th.

For the ladies, Okawville took 1st as a team, followed by New Athens in 2nd, RBHS in 3rd, Marissa in 4th, Steeleville in 5th, and Valmeyer in 6th.  Individual point scorers for RBHS were: Calyn Hartmann, Ellie Suhre, Adrienne Vallet, Mary Wagner and Meredith Whelan for the Girls’ team and Eddie Miller, Nick Fehr, Brentyn Brunkhorst, Ethan Summers and Eric Prange for the Boys’ team.  Individual medalists for RBHS were Ellie (10th), Nick (13th), Cayln (5th) and Eddie (7th).

The team will head to the Cahokia Conference Meet at New Athens this Saturday, October 13, followed by Regionals at Chester on Saturday, October 20th, and Sectionals at Benton on Saturday, October 27th.  If they are quick enough to advance, the team will travel to State on Saturday, November 3, 2018–which remains to be seen.
