On Friday, May 19, 2023, Red Bud High School’s Boys’ track team participated in the IHSA Class 1A Boys Track Sectional in Nashville, Illinois. There were 21 teams including Belleville (Althoff Catholic), Breese (Mater Dei), Carlyle, Centralia (Christ Our Rock Lutheran), Chester, Dupo, East St. Louis (SIUE Charter), Gibault Catholic, Glen Carbon (Father McGivney), Lebanon, Madison, Maryville Christian, Nashville, New Athens, O’Fallon (First Baptist Academy), Okawville, Pinckneyville, Red Bud, Sparta, Steeleville, and Wesclin. With the warm weather, the boys were able to place 12th overall with 20 points. Gavin Baldwin placed third in the 100m dash with a personal record time of 11.15 seconds and also placed fifth in the 200m dash with a personal record time of 22.74 seconds. Baldwin qualified for state by time in both the 100m and 200m dash and will run on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Eastern Illinois University for the IHSA Class 1A State Meet. Brayden Howard placed third in the high jump with a jump of 1.85m and also placed fifth in the long jump with a personal record jump of 6.12m. Howard qualified for state, by qualifying height, in the high jump, and also will be participating in IHSA Class 1A State Meet on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Lucas Schwartzkopf placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 12.40m. The boys 4x200m relay team placed fifth with a time of 1:40.83.
