Lady Musketeers go to Carterville
The Musketeers begin their postseason week with the Regional Semi-Final game against Nashville. The Musketeers gained a lead early on in the game, making the score 3 to 0 until the 6th inning. The Nashville Lady Hornets had a base hit topped off with a homerun in the top of the 6th, but the Musketeers were able to hold them to it, winning 3 to 2. Lyla Hess, Addi Dilley, and Jayna Bast each with doubles, and Ava Wagner with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. The pitcher, Olivia Geralds, only allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 8. The team then went to play Carterville on Friday for the Regional Championship. The game was a fight all the way to the end, with the Musketeers losing 8 to 6. The girls rallied in the 6th, tying the game 6 to 6, but Carterville was able to clinch 2 more and Red Bud was unable to score anymore. The Red Bud Lady Musketeers finished off their historic season with a record of 26-9, beating out the school’s all-time winning record of 25 game wins. They say goodbye to 2 seniors, Allie Zipfel and Ashlynn Crafton, and look forward to the next season where they are eager to make even more of a name for themselves.
