The Red Bud Lady Musketeers Varsity Softball team had their opening day this past week and started off strong at Nashville winning 9-5. Olivia Geralds led the team with 2 over-the-fence home runs and 5 RBIs, as well as an excellent pitching performance, achieving a total of 7 strike-outs. Along with Geralds’s plate performance, Addi Dilley went 2-3, Jayna Bast 1-3 with a 2-run home run, and Freshman Ava Wagner went 3-4. The team was set to play Valmeyer the next day, but the weather said otherwise. They then picked up a game Friday night at Freeburg but couldn’t pull off the win, losing 10-0. The team was also set to play a doubleheader in Pinckneyville on Saturday, but the freezing temperatures kept them from it.
