JV Musketeer Squad Beats Indians
The Red Bud Fresh/Soph football team made it two in a row with a convincing win at Carlyle this week. After getting some playing time on the varsity squad Friday night, the boys were ready for a battle against the JV Indians. During the contest, freshman stand-out Lucas Schwartpkoff had touchdowns on a 20-yard run on offense and a “pick-6” interception returned for a TD on defense. Red Bud quarterback Dillon Oliver threw a TD pass to receiver Owen Liefer, sophomore running backs Trace Wagner and Gavin Baldwin each rushed for touchdowns to cement the win. And, of course, it could not have happened without some outstanding play by the offensive line. Final score Red Bud 35, Indians 0. The win improved the team’s record to 2-1 this season. It is the team’s first shut-out of the year and hopes to be a preview of things to come by this talented group of boys.
Red Bud hosts the Sparta Bulldogs on Monday night. Come out and see the team for yourself. Admission to the game is free and the Science Club will be selling Chick-fil-A sandwiches for $5 each at the concession stand. Kick off is at 6:00.
