Lady Musketeers Defeat the Dupo Tigers at Home
On Saturday, February 27, Red Bud faced off against Dupo for the second time this season. Red Bud started off the first quarter fighting and put 10 points on the board while Dupo ended the quarter with 8. Chloe Wild had 2 of the points from a 2-point field goal. Olivia Carle and Hannah Sievers split the other 8 with 4 points each, all created from 2-pointers.
In the second quarter, the Lady Musketeers stepped up their offense a bit and added 14 points to their score. Sievers had 7 points with three 2-point shots and going 1 for 2 from the line. Carle made up 5 of the other points with a 2-pointer and a 3-pointer. The final 2 points were from a 2-point field goal made by Wild. The Musketeer defense held the Tigers to another 8 points, so they walked into halftime with a lead of 8 points.
Red Bud’s defense was a little slower in the third allowing Dupo to score 11 points while the Musketeers put up another 13. Merideth Whelan and Addison Dilley each had a 2-pointer on the board, as did Carle. Sam Kolweier put her own points in the game by making a 3-point basket. Sievers had 3 points created by a 2-pointer and going 1 for 2 from the line. Wild also went 1 for 2 from the line counting for the team’s 13th point. Red Bud headed into the fourth quarter with a 10 point lead.
In the fourth quarter, all of Red Bud’s 13 points were shots made by Sievers and Carle. Sievers had two 2-point baskets and went 2 for 2 with her free throws. Carle also had two 2-pointers, but her other points were made with a 3-point shot. The team’s defense held the Lady Tigers to another 11 points, making the final score a 50-38 victory for Red Bud. This was their second victory against Dupo this year.
