Red Bud Welcomes NRA School Shield Security Assessor Training
in Partnership to Make Local Schools More Secure

RED BUD, Il. – Superintendent Jonathan Tallman is pleased to announce Red Bud CUSD as the
next host of the NRA School Shield Security Assessor Training. The training will be held April
8-12, 2019 in conjunction with the Red Bud Police Department.
The NRA School Shield Security Assessor Training underscores the importance of building
partnerships between schools and local stakeholders, including law enforcement and first
responders. At the conclusion of the training, participants are equipped to conduct vulnerability
assessments and assist schools in recognizing security strengths as well as potential
vulnerabilities. Schools will also be eligible to apply for grant funding to address security needs
through The NRA Foundation.

“We are proud to be able to bring this nationally recognized training to our school district at no
cost to our community,” said Superintendent Tallman. “Addressing school security is a top
priority and I am grateful for the resources and guidance the NRA is willing to provide to help us
maintain a safe learning environment for our students and staff.”
The NRA School Shield program began as an initiative focused on improving school security in
an effort to help prevent national tragedies at educational institutions in America. The NRA
School Shield Security Assessor Training is funded by The NRA Foundation, so there is no cost
to the school district or the law enforcement members that attend.

communities and empower leaders to help make our schools more secure.
