FBLA Attends State Convention & Competition
On April 5 and 6 of 2019, 73 FBLA chapters from all over the State gathered in Springfield, IL, for the 2019
Illinois State Conference. At this event, there were over 1.400 FBLA members from 88 different chapters throughout the state. Five Red Bud FBLA members attended, networked, went to workshops/speakers, watched
competitors present, and actually competed in events. This year the Red Bud members who went were Caleb
and Camden Langrehr, Paul Cowsert, Owen Fahey, and Alex Sievers. Caleb, Camden, Paul, and Owen all competed prior to the conference by taking a test over a specific subject area. Owen competed in Political Science and placed 8th in the State Finals. Paul competed in Computer Problem Solving and received 4th place in state and qualified for National Competition. Alex competed in Computer Game and Simulation Programming, which included both creating/coding a computer game and presenting it at the State Conference and placed 3rd–also qualifying for National competition. Paul and Alex both have the option to travel to San Antonio, Texas at the end of June to compete at the National Conference. Last year, Paul and Owen both qualified for the National Conference and traveled to Baltimore, Maryland for that conference.
