Lady Musketeers Softball Bringing Home Some Wins
On Thursday, April 5 the Red Bud Lady Musketeers competed against the Dupo Lady Tigers at
home. The Musketeers were hoping to add another conference victory to their record. Red Bud
put their first run on the board in the second inning. Callie Todaro started the inning off with a fly
ball double to center field and scored on Madison Shields’ line drive single to center field. Tory
Huggins reached on a fly ball single. Huggins and Shields both scored on hard hit ground balls
from MaKenzie Harbaugh and Laura Juelfs. The Lady Musketeers rallied in the fourth inning
and added another five runs to their score. Harbaugh’s single to right field scored one run.
Juelfs brought two runs across the plate on a line drive triple to center field. Sophia Koesterer
and Shields both had a RBI to increase Red Bud’s lead. The Musketeers scored another two
runs in the fifth inning to end the game. The Red Bud Lady Musketeers defeated Dupo and
claimed the conference win with a final score of 10-0.

1/3; Allen, Huggins, and Juelfs each contributed with a walk as well.
Koesterer pitched the game allowing two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.
On Friday, April 6, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers hosted the Okawville Lady Rockets. Red Bud
got things started in the first inning. Harbaugh singled on a line drive to center field and Juelfs
singled on a bunt. Both advanced on Koesterer’s single hit to left field. Harbaugh scored after
tagging up on Mackenzie Schweizer’s fly out to center field. Okawville tied the game up in the
top of the third inning and took the lead in the fourth by adding one run to their score. The
Musketeers responded in the fifth inning by putting three runs on the board to take the lead.
They increased their lead by another two runs in the sixth inning. Juelfs grounded into a fielder’s
choice, scoring one run. Koesterer singled on a fly ball to left field, bringing another run across
the plate for the Musketeers. In the seventh inning, the Lady Rockets started to slowly creep
back into the game, but the Musketeers held onto their lead. Red Bud captured the victory with
a final score of 6-4.

Brown and Juelfs each contributed with a walk as well.
Schweizer pitched the game allowing three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
On Saturday, April 2, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers traveled to Belleville East to take on the
Lady Lancers. The Musketeers had trouble keeping up with the Lancers. A two-run home run hit
to left field gave the Lady Lancers the lead in the third inning. The Musketeers responded with
one run in the top of the fourth inning. Koesterer doubled on a line drive to center field and
advanced on Allen’s groundout to the second baseman. Koesterer scored on Todaro’s RBI
groundout to second base. Belleville East fired back in the bottom of the fourth and scored five
runs. Red Bud was unable to rally their bats and add to their score the remainder of the game.
The Red Bud Lady Musketeers took the loss with a final score of 7-1.

Harbaugh pitched 3.2 innings allowing five hits and one walk. Schweizer pitched 0.1 innings
allowing one hit. Koesterer pitched 2.0 innings allowing two hits.
Red Bud is scheduled to host Waterloo Gibault on Monday, April 9; travel to Chester on
Tuesday, April 10; host Wesclin on Wednesday, April 11; travel to New Athens on Thursday,
April 12; and travel to Waterloo on Friday, April 13.
