20Time
Imagine a project with no rules, no restrictions, and it’s okay to fail. The students of English 3 were recently given a project with those guidelines. Mrs.Steppig introduced the students to what is called a 20Time project. This is an 8 week project where the students will spend 20% of their class time working on and being creative. The ideas are limitless–some kids decided to write short stories, learn a new trade, or make youtube videos teaching something they are interested in. The one rule is whatever the students do, they have to document it in some way to present to the class at the end of 8 weeks. The students are graded on their process and progress; so, if the project itself fails, it’s okay–the goal is to learn from it. This project lets students learn more about technology with editing videos and allows them to be creative spending time doing something they are truly interested in and could possibly benefit them in the future. The students are ready and excited for the new challenge and Mrs. Steppig is looking forward to seeing their end results.
