Lady Musketeers Action
On Thursday, January 4, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers traveled to Steeleville to face
the Lady Warriors. Hoping to come out strong in their first game of the new year, the
Musketeers knew what they had to do. Playing good defense and continuing to run a fast
offense were going to be key in this game.
In the first quarter, Red Bud came out slow and was not ready to play their game. The
Lady Warriors took advantage of this and outscored the Lady Musketeers seventeen to seven.
Sophia Koesterer drove to the basket twice and knocked in two, two-point shots. MaKenzie
Harbaugh also put in a two-pointer as well. Laura Juelfs went up for a shot and was fouled. She
went one for two from the free throw line. Red Bud was falling 7-17 at the end of the quarter.
The Lady Musketeers improved both defensively and offensively in the second quarter.
They began to knock in more shots, adding more points to their score. Sophie Richards fought
hard from the post and post up strong twice. She put in two shots for the Musketeers. Alyssa
Heller also drove to the basket and put in a two-point shot. Koesterer made a two-pointer as
well. She was also fouled on a shot and went one for two from the free throw line. Harbaugh
contributed with two points as well. At halftime, Red Bud was down 18-29.
In the third quarter, Red Bud came out with much more intensity. The Musketeers played
good defense and knocked in several shots. Richards contributed with seven points this quarter.

free throw line. Harbaugh drove to the basket twice to put four points on the board for the
Musketeers. Koesterer sank her first three-point shot of the game to add another three points to
Red Bud’s score. Alyssa Cowell also drove to the basket and made a shot. She was fouled
twice as well and went one for three from the free throw line. This put the score at 35-36.
The game came down to who could fight harder until the end of the fourth quarter. The
Lady Musketeers did not have the fight in them to finish the game strong, and the Lady Warriors
took it to them. Koesterer sank another three-pointer to add three points to the scoreboard.
