RBHS Wrestling
This year RBHS is bringing something new to the athletic table–a wrestling team. Coached by Principal Rob Pipher, several students have moved into the ring and are finding success on the mat. Although we got a late start this year, the team has 12 athletes, are performing extremely well, and have found a lot of matches to round out their schedule. Our first meet was against Belleville East and RBHS was able to walk away with 3 wins. Dakota Huskey won the 152# weight class, Pierce Heizer won the 220# weight class, and Trenton Fernandez won the 285# weight class.
On Saturday, December 9, the boys traveled to Carbondale for a large meet. We walked away Saturday with 13 wins, 10 pins, and 2 tech falls. This week the team traveled to Carlyle on Monday, December 11 where they tied 30-30 and lost in the 8th tie breaker criteria. The boys travel to Metro-East Lutheran, Triad, and Mascoutah this week where they will face several teams at each meet. We hope to have a home meet sometime in January. Good luck RBHS Wrestling!
