Building Student Leaders to Lead Tough Conversations

In the break out session, we listened to a man who taught what it takes to be a good leader. This man’s dad was a bus driver, and every week when he came home he told his kids that he was a good leader and a good person. His kids never believed that he was a leader because he was just a bus driver.  Years later he passed away and when they had his funeral, there were a lot of people who came up to the speaker and said that the only reason they are living is because of his dad. His father helped people get through depression, and thoughts of suicide. The presentation taught us that even if you are just a bus driver, you can still make a difference and be a leader in your community.  We also learned that even if you don’t have an impressive job title, you can still help people through life and make a lasting impression in everyone’s life.

There were 4 “B’s” he told us to live by and take through our days. They were: Be yourself, Believe in something, Be brave, and Balance everything. By living by these standards,  we can become a great leader and also be successful in life. He also laid a rap down for us in the audience. The speaker was very impressive and entertaining.
