Busy Week for Lady Musketeers

On Monday, April 9, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers took on the Waterloo Gibault Lady Hawks.
Gibault took the lead immediately in the first inning, however, Red Bud stole the lead in the
second inning. The Musketeers pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. Sami
Lucht doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, MaKenzie Harbaugh doubled on a
the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Sophia Koesterer singled on the first pitch of
the at bat, scoring one run. In the third inning, the Lady Hawks added another run to their score.
Red Bud increased their lead by another three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Harbaugh
tripled on a line drive to left field and scored on Laura Juelfs’ hard ground ball single. Juelfs
scored on a wild pitch. Nicole Allen reached base on an error and scored on Hope Guebert’s
hard ground ball single to left field. The Musketeers added a single run to their score in the fifth
inning. After Gibault scored three runs in the top of the sixth, Red Bud answered with three of
their own. The Musketeers secured their lead in the seventh inning and claimed the victory with
a final score of 11-5.

Lucht, and Darrian Stapleton 1/4; Alyssa Cowell and Harbaugh each contributed with a walk.
Harbaugh pitched 4.0 innings allowing three hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Emma
Siegfried pitched 2.0 innings allowing three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Schweizer
pitched 1.0 innings allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout.
On Tuesday, April 10, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers traveled to Chester to take on the Lady
Jackets. The Musketeers got on the board immediately in the first inning when an error scored
one run. Harbaugh doubled on a line drive to center field and scored on Allen’s hard ground
ball. Red Bud continued to put runs on the board in the second inning. Cowell homered on a fly
ball to center field and brought two runs across the plate. In the top of the fifth inning, the
Musketeers added one run to their score. The Lady Jackets scored their first and only run of the
game in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Lady Musketeers responded in the top of the
seventh by scoring three runs. Red Bud held onto their lead in the bottom of the seventh and
captured the win with a final score of 7-1.
Schweizer 1/1; Harbaugh and Todaro 1/2; Cowell and Juelfs 1/3; Harbaugh and Koesterer each
contributed with two walks. Allen, Stapleton, and Todaro each contributed with one walk.
Koesterer pitched the game allowing four hits and one walk with six strikeouts.
On Wednesday, April 11, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers competed against the Wesclin Lady
Warriors at home. Red Bud got things started in the first inning. Harbaugh started the inning off
with a line drive double to center field. Koesterer grounded into fielder’s choice, allowing
Harbaugh to score. Koesterer scored on Schweizer’s triple down the left field line. Wesclin put
their first run on the board in the top of the third inning. The Musketeers responded with another
four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Harbaugh and Juelfs both reached base and scored
on Koesterer’s hard ground ball single to left field. Koesterer scored after tagging up on Amber

Mollet’s fly out. Lucht’s double to center field also added another two runs to Red Bud’s score.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Warriors rallied their bats and added three runs to their
score. However, the Musketeers did not let down and increased their score by one run in the
bottom of the fifth. Wesclin scored one run in the seventh inning, but Red Bud held onto their
lead and defeated the Lady Warriors with a final score of 8-5.

Schweizer pitched 4.0 innings allowing six hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Harbaugh
pitched 3.0 innings allowing two hits and no walks with seven strikeouts.
On Thursday, April 12, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers traveled to New Athens to take on the
Lady Jackets. The game was tied with no score coming into the third inning, but the Lady
Musketeers changed that by putting three runs on the board. Madison Shields reached base on
a dropped third strike. Harbaugh followed up with a hard ground ball single to left field. Juelfs
singled on a bunt and advanced the runners. Schweizer singled on a fly ball to right field and
drove in two runs for the Musketeers. Red Bud stole home on a throwdown to second base and
scored another run. The Lady Jackets responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning
and put five runs on the board to take the lead. In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady
Musketeers rallied their bats and tied the game up, however in the bottom half of the inning the
Jackets managed to take the lead once again by scoring one run. Red Bud was shut down by
New Athens in the seventh inning. The Musketeers took the loss with a final score of 6-5.

On Friday, April 13, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers took on the Waterloo Lady Bulldogs. The
Musketeers got things moving in the first inning. Harbaugh started the inning off with a walk.
Schweizer was walked as well. Allen’s fly ball single to right field drove in one run and Todaro’s
hard ground ball single to center field drove in another. In the third inning, the Lady Bulldogs put
their first and only run of the game on the board. The Lady Musketeers added one run to their
score in the top of the seventh inning and held onto their lead in the bottom half of the inning.
Red Bud captured the win with a final score of 3-1.
Juelfs 2/3; Todaro 2/4; Allen 1/3; Harbaugh, Tory Huggins, Mollet, Schweizer, and Stapleton
each contributed with one walk.
Koesterer pitched the game allowing three hits and two walks with sixteen strikeouts.

Red Bud is scheduled to travel to Belleville West on Monday, April 16; host Marissa on
Tuesday, April 17; travel to Columbia on Wednesday, April 18; and host Steeleville on
Thursday, April 19.
