Red Bud Falls Against Conference Rival

Red Bud was slated to have a full week of games. Scheduled to play four out of the five days in the week. Mother Nature had different plans and due to the rain the Musketeers were only allowed to play on Wednesday against Steeleville. Red Bud traveled to Steeleville and sent Griffin Ziebold to the bump to try and give the Musketeers a huge conference win. Through the first couple innings, it was a pitcher’s duel. Neither team’s starting pitcher blinked, hitting spots, mixing speeds, and being able to make quick work of the opponent. In the bottom of the third, the Warriors drew first blood and scored on an RBI double giving them the 1-0 advantage. In the top of the fourth is where the Musketeers did their damage. With two outs and runners on second and third, Thomas White crushed an RBI double into the left-center gap scoring both baserunners. Blake Cowell followed up with an RBI single that scored White, giving the Musketeers a 3-1 lead. The Musketeers held this lead until the Warriors were able to put together good at bats and tie the game up at three after five innings. Ziebold was relieved in the midst of a long bottom of the sixth inning for Red Bud. White struggled on the mound to hit his spots and the patient Warrior hitters did not bite on White’s offspeed. The Warriors put together a four-run bottom of the sixth and the Musketeers could not keep up with their late offensive burst. The Musketeers fell 7-3.

Red Bud fell to a 1-2 conference record and 2-2 overall record. The Musketeers look to bounce back with a full week of baseball next week.
