Volleyball Action

The varsity volleyball team started the week off with two wins against Dupo and Marissa last week before participating in the Granite City Tournament on Saturday.

Red Bud traveled to Dupo on Monday and defeated their opponent 25-11, 25-15.

Alyssa Cowell put away seven kills for the team. Claire Grohmann contributed four. Alyssa Heller served for 12 points. Olivia Carle had nine points. Megan Schrader put up a block for the team. Grohmann totalled nine digs; Alyssa Heller eight and Jenna Salger had six. Salger had 15 assists. Cowell recorded 11 receptions.

On Sept. 13 the team was host to Marissa and won the match in two sets 25-18, 25-22.

Red Bud participated in the Granite City tournament on Saturday and faced the host team for their first match. The Lady Musketeers won the match 25- 13, 27-26.

Cowell and Grohmann ac- counted for six kills each. Schrader tallied five. Salger served for nine points and Cow- ell had seven. Grohmann and Schrader had one block each. Grohmann also had 13 digs for the team. Salger recorded 22 assists. Cowell had seven recep- tions and Schrader, six.

Their next opponent was Southwestern. This ended in a tie as Red Bud lost the first contest 24-26, but won the second, 25-17. Nicole Allen and Schrader put down four kills apiece. Grohmann had three. Heller and Cowell served for seven points each while Grohmann and Lexi Price tallied five each. Schrader had 11 digs for the team. Kassidy Ellner had eight. Salger totalled 16 assists for the match. Cowell recorded nine receptions.

The Lady Musketeers faced Highland and lost 25-15, 25-11. Carle put down four kills. Grohmann and Allen contrib- uted one block each. Cowell and Grohmann had five digs apiece. Salger had seven assists. Cowell tallied 10 receptions and Grohmann, nine.

For their final match of the tournament, the Lady Muske- teers battled Civic Memorial for second place. Red Bud fell 25-18, 27-25 to take third place.

Grohmann put down six kills for the match. Megan Henry and Alyssa Cowell recorded four each. Olivia Carle led the team with five serving points. Schrader had one block. Cowell totalled seven digs and Ellner had six. Salger had 18 assists. Ellner recorded 10 receptions and Grohmann, nine.

Alyssa Heller was named to the All Tournament Team for Red Bud.

Highland won the tournament with Civic Memorial taking second place.

This week the team traveled to Belleville West on Monday and Lebanon on Tuesday. They will host Steeleville next Monday, Sept. 24.
