Musketeers Struggling Through The Rain

Red Bud was scheduled to host Granite City on Monday, March 19, Lebanon on Tuesday,
March 20, and Belleville Althoff on Wednesday, March 21. All games were cancelled due to
weather conditions and will be rescheduled at a later date.

On Thursday, March 22, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers traveled to Steeleville to compete
against the Lady Warriors. Red Bud was hoping to gain another conference win. The Lady
Musketeers got things moving immediately in the first inning. Laura Juelfs singled on a bunt and
scored on a wild pitch. Emma Siegfried reached base on a dropped third strike and later scored
on Nicole Allen’s fly ball double to center field. It was not until the third inning that the Lady
Warriors made it on the scoreboard, however, it was not enough to take the lead. The
Musketeers rallied back in the fourth inning to extend their lead. Allen doubled on a line drive to
center field and Tory Huggins followed up with walk. Both scored on MaKenzie Harbaugh’s line
drive double to left field. Steeleville did not put their heads down in the bottom of the fourth
inning. They scored five runs and stole the lead. Red Bud continued to fight in the fifth and put
one run on the board. In the sixth inning, the Musketeers made the game theirs, collecting
multiple hits and runs to steel the lead back from the Warriors. The Lady Warriors scored one
run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Musketeers held onto their lead to clinch the the
conference victory with a final score of 9-7.

Allen 4/4; Darrian Stapleton 3/4; Juelfs 1/3; Harbaugh and Callie Todaro 1/4; Tory Huggins,
Juelfs, and Sophia Koesterer each contributed with a walk.
Koesterer pitched the game allowing eleven hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Red Bud was scheduled to host Sparta on Friday, March 23 and Alton-Marquette on Saturday,
March 24. Both games were canceled due to weather conditions.
Red Bud is scheduled to host Mascoutah on Thursday, March, 29 and participate in the Wood
River Tournament on Saturday, March 31.
