Musketeers On the Hunt To Clinch Conference Title With A Win Friday

With their 49-30 win over the New Athens Yellow Jackets, the Musketeers are now one win away from clinching the conference title. The Musketeers currently sit at 14-11 overall, and 10-1 in the conference, with their only loss coming from the Steeleville Warriors. The Musketeers are led by a group of seniors that are now one win away from completing an accomplishment that has not been done since the 04-05 season when Phil Taylor was the head coach. Red Bud boys basketball has only seen three conference championships in school history and could see its fourth on Friday night against the Dupo Tigers. The only other conference titles that have occured in school history were the 1971-72 season and the 1983-84 season. Coach CJ Cruser, in his first season as head coach, has done a great job at keeping the team’s eyes on the prize. He has reminded them down the stretch of the season how important it is to come out every night and play the game like it’s our last. Cruser has also preached to never take the moment for granted and that the conference title would be a nice “feather in our cap.” Friday night’s game will also be Senior Night for the athletes on the team, as well as the annual “White Out Game” for the fan section. We hope to see everyone come out and support the team and root on the Musketeers as they fight for the first boys basketball conference title in over ten years.
